Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis - PGD with IVF

We offer Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) for women over 38 years old, who wish to use their own eggs in order to transfer those embryos which are most likely to be genetically normal. PGD is also indicated for those with recurring pregnancy loss or known genetic disease, in the hope to deliver a normal, viable infant.

The PGD process involves undergoing egg retrieval with IVF, with a cell removed from the day 3 embryos. Using DNA probes, the apparently normal embryos are selected for day 5 transfer. For patients with recurrent pregnancy loss, especially if it is thought to be genetically related, PGD optimizes the chance that a normal healthy child can be delivered.
