Uterine Fibroids

Uterine enlargement due to abnormal uterine tumors (uterine fibroids or uterine myomas), may cause you to have symptoms of bleeding, pain, recurrent miscarriages or failed In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles. Fibroids may be suspected at the time of your pelvic exam, but are usually confirmed by pelvic ultrasound and rarely, MRI.

Uterine fibroid treatment varies on whether further childbearing is desired. Laser laparoscopy may be helpful to shrink small fibroids. Adequate uterine fibroid treatment, in order to adequately heal uterine fibroids, may require myomectomy, using Microlaser surgery to remove your uterine fibroid tumors while preserving your uterus. Obviously, removing jus the myoma gives you the option to conceive if you so desire. Removal of your pelvic organs may be advised if your family is complete. If possible, using the daVinci robot system will help you return to your normal daily activities with markedly less pain and hopefully, less scarring.
