Experiencing the first stages of menopause can be disruptive and may leave you questioning whether you can continue to lead the life you’ve known. Our menopause solutions help women take charge of their physical condition so they can continue to engage in a joyful, independent life with your family and friends. Through early intervention, with bioidentical hormones, Dr. McLaughlin, Taylor Johnson, WHNP and Megan Woodard, FNP strive to help women cope with the challenges of aging and offer encouragement in maintaining a healthier life. Hormone replacement therapy is "personalized" and "individualized".
According to The North American Menopause Society (NAMS), Menopause is the permanent end of menstruation confirmed after 12 months without a period or when the ovaries have been surgically removed.
Menopause is associated with a reduced ovarian function and results in lower hormone levels. There are many factors associated with an earlier age of menopause.
The median age for onset is age 51; however, premature menopause can occur under the age of 40.
Premature aging in women may occur indirectly as a result of having their ovaries removed during a hysterectomy. A study shows that 1 in 3 gynecologists do this to reduce a woman’s risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Yet, removal of the ovaries will cause a hormonal imbalance that can lead to a decrease in quality of life.
